Dr. Cheryl Cook was raised in Huntington, WV from the age of 8. She graduated from Marshall University and the Joan C.Edwards School of Medicine and then specialized in Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She received her Pediatric Board Certification and returned to the Tri-State area. There, she joined Tri-State Pediatrics in 1988 where she practiced for 32 years, specializing in the care of infants, children, teenagers and children with special needs. Dr. Cook served on multiple committees at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital including the Medical Executive Committee, Infectious Disease Committee, Case Management, the Ethics Committee and the Green Team. She and Dr. Michael Ehrie worked at the OLBH Asthma Center for 3 years, treating many patients from various counties in Kentucky. She was the Chief of Pediatrics for numerous years as well as the Physician Champion for the Pediatric Service Line. Dr. Cook has been an active member of the Our Lady of Bellefonte Foundation for many years and was honored to receive the Physician Hero Award. The Jonathan Ferguson Endowment was founded in memory of Dr. Cook’s husband, who also worked at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, managing the OLBH Credit Union that merged with Members Choice Credit Union. Dr. Cook founded the yearly OLBH Bicycle Safety Camp and the only Pediatric Flu Clinic in the Tri-State area. Dr Cook arranged a collaboration between OLBH and Children’s Hospital to bring various pediatric specialists to provide specialty clinics for the children of our community. She also was instrumental in developing the joint OLBH-Nationwide Children’s Pediatric Conference that was sponsored on the OLBH campus which drew doctors and health care providers from various counties in the Tri-State. Dr. Cook was an avid supporter of the Special Needs Children’s Christmas Party. Her love of nature and landscape photography resulted in her starting the Tri-State Camera Club. Dr. Cook currently serves on the Boards of the Ashland Animal Rescue Fund and the Highlands Museum. She is very excited to be a member of the Continuing The Legacy Foundation and is looking forward to serving the community in the OLBH tradition of “good help for those in need.” Dr. Cook loves her family dearly, as well as her rescue pets, a feral cat named Miss Kitty, who took a year to domesticate and SugarBear, her precious dog, who rules her home. She enjoys photography, music and reading.
